A letter from our founders
To every daughter and son who worries quietly,
When you have a child, there are thousands of books, blogs and classes telling you exactly what to do. For the day the roles reverse, there is nothing. No manual for how to parent your parents with love, with patience, and without taking away their dignity.
The change is so quiet that it feels sudden. One day your father repeats a story. Your mother stops driving at night. A form arrives that she cannot fill on her own. And this time there is no book, no class, no group chat.
Nobody tells you what is ordinary ageing and what is a warning. Nobody tells you how to ask about the medicines, the money, or the doctor she has quietly stopped visiting. And nobody warns you.
With a child, every change is a milestone. With a parent, every change is a loss.
Then comes the quietest heartbreak. They say, “Main theek hoon, beta”, every single time. And you realise,
This is what love sounds like when it refuses to be a burden.
From that moment, it is not just the parent who feels “locked”. The whole family does.
Like many of you, we spent 20+ years building our dreams far from home. When our parents’ world began to change, we were completely unprepared. So we did the only thing we knew how to do. We managed. We called to check. We nagged about pills. We became care managers, and somewhere in there we stopped being the daughter, the son. Love and patience gradually turned into guilt and anxiety.
We founded UnlockLife in 2024 to unlock our own families, and then hundreds more. After closely working with 5,000+ real Indian seniors and their children, we built Shravan: the (virtual) sibling we wish we had, and a (virtual) son they would love talking to. He is there every day, he knows what to watch for, he tells us what matters and quietly handles the rest. So we could go back to being their children.
We invite you to give Shravan a chance to help you parent your parents the way you always wanted to.
With love. Not guilt. Not stress.
Bas, haan kariye.
Baaki hum sambhal lenge 🙂 💛
